Most people outgrow Otterly for two reasons: Lite tracks 15 prompts, and Claude, Gemini and Google AI Mode cost extra on every plan. On five stated criteria Rankscale, Cituna and AthenaHQ tie for the lead at 6 of 8. Rankscale starts at $20 a month on credits across 16 engines, Cituna (built by the developer who runs Automate Basics) is $39 a month with Claude, Gemini, AI Mode and Grok all included and Search Console built in, and AthenaHQ has a free plan and 11 models on Starter. If prompt volume is the problem, SE Visible gives 200 prompts for $99.

Otterly.AI is a good cheap monitor until you hit its ceilings: Lite covers 15 prompts on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot, and Claude, Gemini and Google AI Mode are paid extras on every plan. Scored on five criteria from pricing pages read on 25 September 2026, Rankscale, Cituna (built by the developer who runs Automate Basics) and AthenaHQ share the top score. Rankscale is cheapest to start, Cituna includes the engines Otterly charges extra for, and AthenaHQ has a free plan. SE Visible is the pick if the prompt cap is what hurts.

For every tool's current price and trial on one page, see the full AI visibility category in our directory.

Where Otterly starts to pinch

The Lite plan is $29 a month (15% less on annual billing) and the next step, Standard, is $189 for 100 prompts plus API and MCP access and Agent Analytics. That gap is the most likely reason to look around: going from 15 to 100 prompts multiplies the bill by six and a half. Premium is $489 for 400 prompts, and extra blocks of 100 prompts cost $99 on the upper plans (Otterly pricing, read 25 September 2026).

The second reason is engine coverage. Otterly's four base engines include Copilot, which several rivals skip, but anyone whose buyers ask Claude or Gemini pays extra for them. If you are still deciding whether tracking is worth paying for at this scale, our guide to tracking your brand in ChatGPT shows what a manual check can tell you first.

Our ranking method and criteria

Every entry comes from the ten AI visibility tools in the Automate Basics directory, re-checked on the vendor's own site on 25 September 2026. Otterly is the page's subject, so it appears as a baseline row and is not numbered. The same five criteria were applied to each tool's cheapest paid self-serve plan:

  • Engines included on the entry plan, add-ons excluded: 7 or more earns 2 points, 5 or 6 earns 1, 4 or fewer earns 0. Only engines the vendor names count.
  • Published entry price on monthly billing: up to $50 earns 2, $51 to $150 earns 1, anything higher or unpublished earns 0.
  • Prompts tracked a day on that plan: 100 or more earns 2, 25 to 99 earns 1, fewer than 25, or a figure the page did not show, earns 0. Where a plan is metered in credits or checks with no prompt count, we take the monthly allowance divided by 30 on a single engine.
  • A Google Search Console connection named on the product's own pages, including a beta: 1 point.
  • A free trial or a free plan: 1 point.

That makes 8 the top score, and a tie goes to the lower entry price. These cover the two Otterly limits above (engines and prompts) plus price, search data and a way to test. The order is the total score; if prompts are your limit, SE Visible (#5) is the direct fix. This page is published by Automate Basics, and one of the ranked tools, Cituna, is built by the developer who runs Automate Basics; it was scored on exactly the same criteria as every other entry. They leave out things we could not measure the same way across ten tools, such as data accuracy and support.

1. Rankscale

Best for: people who like Otterly's low price but want to pick their own engines.

Where Otterly sells engines as add-ons, Rankscale sells checks. Essentials starts at $20 a month, and each run of a prompt on one engine typically costs a quarter of a credit; Claude costs 2 and DeepSeek 1. The credit calculator lists 16 engines, among them Grok, Mistral and Copilot, and each search term can run hourly, daily, weekly or monthly. Pro is $99 for 1,200 credits and 10 brand dashboards, with a 7-day trial that bills nothing before day 7 (Rankscale pricing, read 25 September 2026). Its home page lists GA4 and Search Console, in beta.

Where it falls short: a credit bill moves with your choices, so it is less predictable than Otterly's flat plans, and the Essentials credit allowance was not shown when we read the page, which cost it the prompt point.

See Rankscale in our directory.

2. Cituna

Cituna is built by the developer who runs Automate Basics.

Best for: Otterly users who pay add-ons for Claude, Gemini or AI Mode.

Cituna's $39 Starter includes the three engines Otterly charges extra for, plus Grok, alongside ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews: seven in total, each checked daily. Starter covers one brand and 10 buyer prompts; Pro ($119) raises that to three brands and 30 prompts with alerts and competitor tracking, and Max ($399) to 10 brands and 90 prompts. A Search Console connection, written fixes (schema, FAQ markup, llms.txt, articles) and white-label reports come with every plan, and the first scan runs without a card, but its report opens only once you start the 3-day trial, which needs a card (Cituna pricing, Cituna home page, read 25 September 2026).

Where it falls short: Starter's 10 prompts is fewer than Otterly Lite's 15, so this solves an engine problem, not a volume one. Copilot, one of Otterly's base four, is not tracked. The 3-day trial requires a card, becomes a paid plan unless cancelled, and part-used months are not refunded.

3. AthenaHQ

Best for: teams ready to spend more for the widest self-serve model list.

AthenaHQ's free Essential plan, with $25 of credit worth 300 AI responses, covers ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, Gemini and Copilot, so you can compare it with Otterly before paying. Starter is $295 a month (17% off yearly) for 3,600 responses across 11 models, adding Claude, AI Mode, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral. The plan page lists GA4 and Search Console integration and content optimisation agents (AthenaHQ plans, read 25 September 2026).

Where it falls short: at ten times Otterly Lite's price, the jump is large, and the API and extra credits are priced only on request.

See AthenaHQ in our directory.

4. Ahrefs Brand Radar

Best for: existing Ahrefs customers, whose plans already include a few daily prompts.

Brand Radar's Custom Prompts start at $50 a month for 2,500 checks; each prompt uses one check per platform, location and update, and Claude uses 8. Platforms are ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, AI Overviews and AI Mode, plus Claude. Separately, the AI Visibility Index (from $199) shows any brand's mentions across Ahrefs' 451M-prompt database with no setup (Ahrefs Brand Radar, read 25 September 2026).

Where it falls short: no trial, per Ahrefs' pricing FAQ (Ahrefs pricing), and Search Console is not part of the Brand Radar pages. A check budget spread across several engines runs thin quickly.

See Ahrefs Brand Radar in our directory.

5. SE Visible

Best for: Otterly users whose real problem is the 15-prompt cap.

For $99 a month, or 20% less yearly, SE Visible Basic tracks 200 prompts daily on ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Perplexity and AI Overviews, which is about 30,000 answers a month across three projects. Answers are captured from each platform's interface, not an API, and there is a 10-day trial (SE Visible, read 25 September 2026). Gemini and AI Mode, both Otterly add-ons, are included.

Where it falls short: it drops Copilot, which Otterly covers, Claude is still listed as coming soon, and no Search Console connection is named.

See SE Visible in our directory.

6. Peec AI

Best for: content teams that want more prompts than Otterly Lite with unlimited seats.

Peec Starter is $95 a month for 50 daily prompts on any three of ChatGPT, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Copilot, Gemini and Naver AI, in one project with unlimited users. Pro is $245 for 150 prompts and two projects; Looker Studio and multi-country tracking arrive on Advanced at $495 (Peec AI pricing, read 25 September 2026).

Where it falls short: three included models is one fewer than Otterly's base four (like Otterly, Peec sells extra models as add-ons), and its listed integrations are Google Analytics and CDN logs rather than Search Console.

See Peec AI in our directory.

7. Scrunch

Best for: brands that want site audits bundled with a mid-size prompt set.

Scrunch Core costs $250 a month for 125 prompts, five site audits a month, one brand workspace and five users. It covers the same four engines as Otterly's base plan: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Copilot. There is a 7-day trial (Scrunch pricing, read 25 September 2026).

Where it falls short: no more engines than Otterly for much more money, one country on Core, and Claude, Gemini and AI Mode only on Enterprise.

See Scrunch in our directory.

8. Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit

Best for: Semrush subscribers who want AI prompts next to their SEO data.

At $99 a month the toolkit tracks 25 prompts and runs Brand Performance reports for one domain; each extra user needs another $99 licence, and 50 extra prompts cost $60 a month (Semrush knowledge base, read 25 September 2026).

Where it falls short: there is no trial of the toolkit, and its page names only ChatGPT and Google AI Mode for prompt tracking.

See Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit in our directory.

9. Profound

Best for: large brands moving from Otterly to an enterprise contract.

Profound's free 7-day trial runs 50 prompts a day on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews; after that, brands buy Enterprise by quote, with up to nine engines, SSO and AI Marketer agents (Profound pricing, read 25 September 2026).

Where it falls short: no published price at all, and the trial keeps no history and allows no exports, so it scored lowest here.

See Profound in our directory.

Staying on Otterly

Otterly scored 3 of 8, level with Peec and Scrunch. It remains a sensible choice when Copilot is the engine that matters, your list of buyer questions fits in 15, and the $29 price is the point. If you do move, the cost guide for AI visibility platforms helps you price the upgrade path, not just the first plan. See Otterly.AI in our directory.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a cheaper alternative to Otterly.AI?

Yes. Rankscale Essentials starts at $20 a month against $29 for Otterly Lite (both billed monthly, read 25 September 2026). It bills in credits, usually 0.25 per engine per check, so the saving depends on how many engines and how often you check. Cituna is $10 more than Otterly Lite but includes seven engines where Otterly includes four.

Which Otterly alternative includes Claude without an add-on?

Cituna (all plans), AthenaHQ (Starter), Rankscale (at 2 credits a check) and Ahrefs Brand Radar custom prompts (at 8 checks an update) all include Claude. On Otterly, Claude is a paid add-on on every plan. SE Visible lists Claude as coming soon, and Peec, Scrunch Core and Semrush do not name it on their entry plans.

Does any Otterly alternative track Microsoft Copilot?

Yes. AthenaHQ (free plan and Starter), Peec (as one of its three included models), Scrunch Core, Rankscale and Ahrefs Brand Radar all cover Copilot. Cituna and SE Visible do not. If Copilot matters most to your buyers, that narrows the list.
