9 Best Later Alternatives in 2026 for Instagram and TikTok

By

· Updated · 19 min read

The best Later alternative for posting to Instagram, TikTok and eight more networks, for one brand or many, at a flat price per brand is PostWharf: each brand gets its own workspace with unlimited channels and no per-channel fee, every post gets a delivery receipt for each network, and plans start at $15 a month ($10 a month billed yearly).

Key takeaways

  • The best Later alternative for posting to Instagram, TikTok and eight more networks, for one brand or many, at a flat price per brand is PostWharf: each brand gets its own workspace with unlimited channels and no per-channel fee, every post gets a delivery receipt for each network, and plans start at $15 a month ($10 a month billed yearly).
  • Other picks by need: a free plan that lets you choose per post between auto-publishing and a phone notification, Buffer; paying per account, starting from one, Publer ($12 a month for three accounts); a free brand with reports beside the planner, Metricool; Later's own social-set plans at a lower reported price, Planoly (reported from $14 to $16 a month billed yearly); reminders for Creator accounts plus a grid view, SocialBee; Stories, Reels and carousels named on its Instagram page, SocialPilot ($30 a month for seven accounts); free and self-hosted, Postiz; a team answering Instagram comments together, Agorapulse ($79 per user a month billed yearly).
  • Why people look elsewhere: Later's Starter plan is $25 a month for one social set (one profile per network), one user and 30 posts per profile a month, and it cannot buy add-ons, so a second Instagram account already means a bigger plan.

Choose your Later replacement by what you post and how many accounts you run. PostWharf suits a creator or business with several Instagram and TikTok accounts, or several brands, that wants one queue and one price per brand; the other eight cover a free start, Later's own plan shape, Instagram extras and team inboxes. Later's, PostWharf's and seven rivals' prices were read on the vendors' own pages on 16 October 2026, and Planoly's in one web search the same day.

To write a post once and send it to every Instagram, TikTok and other account a brand runs, see PostWharf's plans. The Starter plan's first seven days are free, and the card is only charged when the trial ends.

What Later costs, and why people leave

Later bills by the social set: one profile on each network it supports, which are Instagram, Facebook, Threads, Pinterest, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube and Snapchat. Starter is $25 a month, or $18.75 billed yearly, for one set, one user and 30 posts per profile a month, with five AI credits and no add-ons. Growth is $50, or $37.50, for two sets, two users and 180 posts per profile, and adds approvals and a social inbox; extra sets cost $15 a month and extra users $5. Scale is $110, or $82.50, for six sets, four users and unlimited posts. Yearly billing takes 25% off, and there is a 14-day trial but no free plan (Later's pricing page, read 16 October 2026).

On Instagram and TikTok, Later does a lot on its entry plan. Every plan auto-publishes to Instagram business and creator accounts and to TikTok, schedules Stories and Reels (with audio on Reels), can post your hashtags as the first comment, and includes a Link in Bio page that takes up to five links on an Instagram feed post and one on a TikTok post. Its visual planner is a drag-and-drop calendar for every profile at once. The reasons to leave are mostly about scale:

  • A set holds one profile per network, so a second Instagram account needs a second set, and Starter cannot add one. Three brands, each on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook, need Growth plus one extra set: $65 a month, or $48.75 billed yearly.
  • Thirty posts per profile a month on Starter works out at about one a day for each profile.
  • X, Bluesky and Google Business Profile are not on its network list.
  • AI caption help is metered in credits, five a month on Starter.

How we chose these 9

We started from the 12 social schedulers our directory researched on their own pages on 16 October 2026 (PostWharf, Buffer, Hootsuite, Later, Sprout Social, Metricool, Publer, SocialPilot, SocialBee, Sendible, Agorapulse and Postiz), and added two Instagram-first planners: Planoly, which appears among Later's peers in the search results for this question, and Pallyy, which AI answer engines named in a Cituna scan of social-scheduling questions the same day. With Later itself set aside, that left 13 candidates. A tool made the list if it:

  • publishes to both Instagram and TikTok, confirmed on its own pages or in one web search,
  • is sold to new customers with a price, or a free tier, we could pin down for one brand,
  • answers something Later users go looking for: a lower bill, a free plan, more accounts per brand, more networks, or Instagram tools such as first comments, a link-in-bio page and a grid preview.

Four were left off. Hootsuite ($99 per user a month billed yearly, for up to 10 accounts) and Sprout Social ($79 per seat a month billed yearly, with five profiles on its entry plan) are team suites priced per person, and the records we read from their pages name none of the Instagram planning tools Later users look for, such as a grid preview, first comments or a link-in-bio page. Agorapulse also charges per user, but its own pages name a grid view, first comments and a link-in-bio page, so it stays as the pick for teams. Sendible is built around agency workspaces, and its pages mention no mobile app, which posting by phone reminder depends on. Pallyy's sources disagree on how it is sold, not only on the price: guides list a Starter plan at $15 with 20 posts and Pro at $25 per social set, while its own help centre still describes a free plan, $25 per set and $29 per extra user, so we could not price one brand. Planoly's guides differ on figures but agree on the plan model.

PostWharf is first because it meets the need this page leads with: several Instagram and TikTok accounts, or several brands, on a flat price per brand, with X, Bluesky and Telegram as well. Next come the tools with a free hosted plan, then Planoly, which matches Later's plan shape, then the paid tools in order of their price for one brand, then Postiz, which is free only if you run it, and last Agorapulse, which charges per user. The order is our editorial judgement. Prices are list prices in US dollars before tax. "Not listed" in the tables means neither the vendor's pricing page nor our one search on 16 October 2026 showed the feature; the tool may still have it.

Later alternatives compared on price

We priced one brand as three channels (Instagram, TikTok and Facebook) and three brands as nine channels.

The 9 alternatives, ranked

1. PostWharf

PostWharf is a social media scheduler built around one composer and one queue. You write a post once, change the caption or hashtags for any network that needs its own wording, and send it to every account the brand runs, now or at a set time. It publishes to Instagram and TikTok plus eight more networks: X, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, Threads, Pinterest, Bluesky and Telegram. X, Bluesky and Telegram are three that Later's list does not include. Reddit, Discord, Snapchat and WordPress are on request and cannot be connected yet.

The biggest difference from Later is what you pay for. Later counts social sets, one profile per network, so each extra Instagram account takes another set. PostWharf bills per workspace, which is one brand, and a workspace holds unlimited channels with no per-channel fee: five Instagram accounts under one brand are still one workspace. Starter is $15 a month ($10 billed yearly) for one brand and 200 scheduled posts a month; Startup is $29 ($23) for three brands and 400 posts; Plus is $67 ($54) for ten brands and 1,000 posts; Pro is $99 ($79) for unlimited brands and 2,500 posts (postwharf.com/pricing, read 16 October 2026).

After each post goes out, PostWharf checks it again and records a delivery receipt for every network it was sent to. A delivery that fails is retried automatically, and the reason appears in a status feed, so a TikTok upload that did not land is visible rather than silent. Every plan also includes a REST API, an MCP server for Claude and other AI assistants, the wharf command-line tool and webhooks; its developer page shows one command sending a video file to Instagram and TikTok together, and posts drafted through an AI assistant wait for your approval. A workflow such as our blog-to-social pipeline built in n8n with Claude can hand its finished posts to that API.

Pros: one flat price per brand however many Instagram, TikTok and other accounts it holds; X, Bluesky and Telegram beside Later's networks; a receipt for every post.

Cons: no free plan, and its pages describe publishing rather than Instagram planning: they list no grid preview, link-in-bio page, analytics or mobile app, and do not name the Instagram formats (Stories, Reels, carousels) it supports.

Start PostWharf's seven-day Starter trial and connect one brand's Instagram and TikTok accounts to their own workspace.

2. Buffer

Buffer's free plan connects three channels, which is one brand on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook, and holds ten scheduled posts per channel at a time for one user (Buffer's pricing page, read 16 October 2026). Paid plans are priced per channel. Essentials is $6 a month per channel, or $5 billed yearly, and adds first-comment scheduling and a hashtag manager; Team is $12, or $10, with unlimited members and approvals. After you upgrade, the three channels that were free are billed as well, so one brand costs $18 a month on Essentials and three brands $54.

Each time you create an Instagram post, Story or Reel in Buffer you pick between automatic publishing and a notification that has you finish the post in the Instagram app. Some details push a post onto the notification route: a caption on a Story, product tags, text or link stickers, and media outside Instagram's accepted aspect ratios. Music on a Reel can still publish automatically when the account is connected through Facebook (Buffer's help centre, read 16 October 2026). Personal Instagram profiles get reminders only. Start Page is Buffer's link-in-bio builder, and its iOS and Android apps handle the notification posts.

Pros: a free plan that fits one small brand, and a clear choice for each post between auto-publishing and a reminder.

Cons: the bill rises with each channel, the free queue holds only ten posts per channel, and Essentials has one user.

3. Publer

Publer's free plan gives one user three social accounts (X excluded), ten scheduled posts per account and 24 hours of post history. Professional is $5 a month, or $4 billed yearly, for a single account; its plans calculator shows $12 a month for three accounts and $20 for five, plus $2 a month for each extra team member, and Professional includes first comments. Business, which adds analytics, best posting times, an API and an MCP server, is $10 a month for one account and $21 for three (Publer's plans page, read 16 October 2026).

For Instagram, Publer's help centre says it schedules and publishes Reels to Creator and Business accounts. It recognises a vertical 9:16 video as a Reel without being told, and lets you choose whether the Reel also shows in your main feed or goes out as a Trial Reel; you make the video yourself, since Publer does not generate Reels.

Pros: a low entry price and a free plan that covers one small brand.

Cons: three brands means nine accounts at a price its calculator sets, and the free plan keeps post history for only 24 hours.

4. Metricool

Metricool prices by brand, and a brand holds one profile per network, much like Later's social set. The free plan covers one brand on every network except LinkedIn and X, with 20 scheduled posts a month and 30 days of analytics. Starter is $25 a month, or $20 billed yearly, for up to five brands, so three brands cost the same as one; ten brands are $45, or $36. Prices exclude VAT, X costs $10 a month per connected account, and the pricing page offers no standard free trial of the paid plans (Metricool's pricing page and help centre, read 16 October 2026).

According to Metricool's help centre, business and creator accounts can auto-publish Instagram posts, Reels, Trial Reels and Stories, while a Story that needs a link or an interactive sticker goes out through a notification. A TikTok post can be saved as a draft, sent for review, scheduled or published at once, and Metricool presents its visual calendar as a way to plan how the Instagram feed will look (metricool.com, found 16 October 2026). Smartlinks is its link-in-bio page.

Pros: a free brand to start, and three to five brands for the same $25.

Cons: 20 posts a month on the free plan runs out quickly if you post Stories daily, and approvals and team roles wait for Advanced, from $53 a month billed yearly.

5. Planoly

Planoly sells its plans the way Later does, in social sets of eight channels. Its prices here come from socialk.it's pricing guide, which says it checked Planoly's pricing page on 10 June 2026: Starter is $16 a month, or $14 billed yearly, for one user and one set, with no add-ons; Growth is $28, or $24, for two users and two sets, with extra sets at $10 a month and extra users at $5; Pro is $55, or $47, for six users and six sets. On those figures, three brands come to $38 a month on Growth with one extra set. Other guides differ: PostEverywhere's May 2026 comparison puts Starter at $20 a month, or $16 billed yearly, and SocialChamp lists older, higher figures. The guides also disagree on the free tier, which socialk.it describes as a mobile plan with ten uploads a month while PostEverywhere says the 2026 lineup dropped it, and on how many uploads Starter allows.

PostPlanify lists the Instagram grid planner on every tier. Planoly's own TikTok page says it auto-posts to TikTok and lists Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Threads, X, LinkedIn and Pinterest alongside it, and its help centre lists TikTok video posts and photo carousels for auto-posting. You choose auto-post or reminder for each channel, and on auto-post a notification comes only if a post fails.

Pros: the closest match to how Later bills, with Starter $5 to $9 a month below Later's on monthly billing, depending on the guide.

Cons: its prices come from third-party guides rather than Planoly's own page, the free tier is in doubt, and we could not confirm which Instagram formats it auto-publishes.

6. SocialBee

SocialBee posts directly to ten networks, Instagram and TikTok among them, and sends phone reminders for places it cannot post to directly, such as Facebook Groups, WhatsApp and Telegram. Bootstrap is $29 a month ($290 a year, or $24 a month billed annually) for five profiles, one user and one workspace; Accelerate is $49 ($490 a year) for ten profiles, enough for three brands of three channels in one workspace; Pro is $99 for 25 profiles across five workspaces. The 14-day trial needs no card, and posting stops when it ends (SocialBee's pricing page, read 16 October 2026).

Its Instagram pages split publishing by account type. Carousels go out directly from Business accounts, while Creator and Personal accounts receive a push notification with the media and caption ready to post. Reels can be sent as reminders with a custom thumbnail, a first comment can be posted automatically under each post, and a grid view shows how upcoming posts will sit on your profile (SocialBee's Instagram scheduler page and its help centre, found 16 October 2026).

Pros: a grid preview and automatic first comments, plus a reminder route for Creator accounts.

Cons: extra users and workspaces cost $10 a month each, and Bootstrap leaves out post approval, the bulk editor and CSV uploads.

7. SocialPilot

SocialPilot's Instagram page names image and video posts, Stories, Reels and carousels, and says it publishes to Business and Creator profiles automatically. Its help centre adds that a Reel can go out directly or as a mobile reminder, that a carousel can mix up to ten images and videos, and that a first comment can be scheduled with the post. Direct publishing is capped at 25 posts in 24 hours for a Business account, while reminders have no such cap (socialpilot.co, found 16 October 2026).

Essentials is $30 a month, or $25.50 billed yearly, for seven accounts and one user, and extra accounts are $4 a month each, so three brands of three channels come to $38. Standard, at $50 or $42.50, takes 15 accounts and three users and adds the social inbox and analytics that Essentials leaves out. There is no free plan; the 14-day trial needs no card (SocialPilot's plans page, read 16 October 2026).

Pros: every main Instagram format named on its own page, with first comments and a reminder route for Reels.

Cons: no analytics or inbox on Essentials, and our search found no grid preview or link-in-bio page.

8. Postiz

Postiz is open source under the AGPL-3.0 licence, so you can run it on your own server with unlimited channels, posts and team members and no licence fee. For Instagram and TikTok the catch is setup: self-hosting means registering your own developer app with most networks, which Postiz says can take weeks for Meta, YouTube and TikTok. The hosted plans skip that step. Standard is $29 a month ($23 billed yearly) for five channels with no team members, Team is $39 ($31) for ten channels, and the seven-day trial needs a card (Postiz's pricing page and docs, read 16 October 2026).

It publishes to 34 platforms, Instagram and TikTok included, and can schedule comments with a post. Our search did not show which Instagram formats it supports, so test Stories and carousels during the trial.

Pros: no licence cost, and your posts stay on a server you control.

Cons: its pages list a web app only and no mobile app for reminder posts, and developer approvals from Meta and TikTok to clear before a self-hosted copy can publish there.

9. Agorapulse

Agorapulse is built around a shared inbox: comments, direct messages and Google reviews arrive in one place with assignment, alongside publishing and reports. Its release notes announced Reels, carousel posting, first comments and a grid view for Instagram, and its Professional plan adds a link-in-bio page and Instagram product tagging (Agorapulse's pricing page, read 16 October 2026).

It charges per user. Standard is $99 per user a month, or $79 billed yearly, and Professional $149, or $119, with ten social profiles shared across the account, which is room for three brands of three channels. A 30-day trial of the Advanced plan needs no card, and there is no free plan.

Pros: grid view, first comments and a shared inbox in one tool, with iOS and Android apps.

Cons: every user is a paid seat, so two people on Standard pay $158 a month billed yearly.

Before you switch from Later

Count profiles per network, not only brands. If you run two Instagram accounts for one business, Later counts two sets and Metricool two brands, while PostWharf counts one workspace and Buffer, Publer and SocialPilot price by the number of accounts.

Check how your Instagram account is set up. SocialBee sends Creator and Personal accounts a reminder where a Business account would publish directly, and Buffer sends Personal profiles reminders only, so a phone app matters if that is your setup.

Rebuild your link-in-bio page in the new tool, or keep a separate one, before you cancel Later, and update the bio link on Instagram and TikTok on the same day. Then run both tools side by side for a week on one brand. To fill the new queue quickly, our guide to turning one blog post into five social posts with AI gives you a week of material from a single article, and planning a month of posts in one ChatGPT chat gives you the calendar. If you also want to automate the steps around posting, compare automation tools in the Automate Basics directory.

Pick your replacement

If your Later plan is straining under extra Instagram and TikTok accounts or extra brands, start PostWharf's seven-day Starter trial and give each brand its own queue with unlimited channels and a receipt for every post. To automate the work that feeds that queue, browse the Automate Basics tools directory for n8n, Zapier, Make and more, compared by price and free plan.

Rival prices come from each vendor's own pages, read on 16 October 2026, except Planoly's, which come from pricing guides one web search returned that day. Plans change, so check the vendor's own page before you pay.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free alternative to Later?

Yes, with limits. Buffer's free plan covers three channels with ten queued posts each, Publer's covers three accounts (not X) with ten scheduled posts per account, and Metricool's covers one brand with 20 posts a month (not LinkedIn or X). Postiz is free if you host it yourself. If you only post to TikTok, TikTok Studio has a desktop scheduler for Business and Creator accounts that takes videos up to ten days ahead (Metricool's TikTok guide, found 16 October 2026). When those caps run out, PostWharf's Starter plan is $10 a month billed yearly for one brand with unlimited channels, and its first seven days are free.

Which Later alternative auto-publishes Instagram Stories?

Metricool auto-publishes Stories to business and creator accounts, and Buffer lets you choose automatic publishing for each Story. Both fall back to a phone notification for Stories that need features Instagram's publishing interface does not support: a caption in Buffer, and a link or an interactive sticker in Metricool. SocialPilot also schedules Stories, and Later schedules them on every plan.

What is the best Later alternative for several Instagram accounts?

For several Instagram and TikTok accounts under one brand, PostWharf keeps them all in one workspace with no per-channel fee, from $15 a month ($10 billed yearly), and Startup covers three brands for $29. Metricool's Starter takes up to five brands for $25 a month, but each brand holds one Instagram profile, so two accounts for one business use two of the five.
