8 Best Buffer Alternatives in 2026 (No Per-Channel Fees)
By Anu Verma
The best Buffer alternative for one brand with many channels is PostWharf: it bills per brand, not per channel, so one composer and one queue cover every account you connect, every post gets a delivery receipt, and plans start at $15 a month. For open-source software you can host yourself, pick Postiz, hosted from $29 a month for 5 channels.

Blotato packs 20 accounts into its $29 Starter plan and 40 into Creator at $97. Later suits small teams that want AI credits and a longer analytics history in the plan, from $25 a month for one set of 8 profiles. SocialBee covers exactly 10 profiles for $49 a month, Sendible gives a team unlimited users and 18 profiles for $99 a month, and SocialPilot fits agencies, with client approvals and white-label options on its upper plans, and covers 10 channels for $50 a month on Standard. Sprout Social suits teams that want publishing, a shared inbox, approvals and competitor reports in one tool, at $399 a seat a month on Professional, its first plan with unlimited profiles. Prices are US dollars on monthly billing, read on 16 October 2026.
Buffer charges for every channel you connect: $6 a month each on Essentials and $12 on Team, with lower rates past the tenth channel. That puts 10 channels on Essentials at $60 a month and 30 channels at $135 (Buffer pricing, read 16 October 2026). Every tool below sizes its plans by brand, by tier or by a block of profiles instead, and we priced each one at 10 and at 30 channels so you can see what a channel really costs as you grow.
If a flat price per brand is what you are after, see PostWharf's plans: the Starter plan's first seven days are free, and you pay nothing if you cancel before the trial ends.
How we chose these 8
We started from every scheduler that AI answer engines named when asked about social media scheduling in a Cituna scan run on 16 October 2026, Buffer aside: PostWharf plus Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Later, SocialBee, CoSchedule, MeetEdgar, Sendible, Metricool, Publer, SocialPilot, Postiz, Planable, Pallyy, Blotato, Agorapulse, Ayrshare, Zoho Social, Vista Social and Meta Business Suite. We put all 20 through the same three tests and kept the tools that:
- publish to several social networks from one queue, the job Buffer does,
- do not charge for each connected channel, but price a plan by brand, by tier or by a block of profiles,
- show a price we could pin at both 10 and 30 channels, with the sources we found agreeing on it.
Publer is out on the second test: it prices each social account, from $5 a month for one account on Professional to $12 for three and $20 for five, or $10, $21 and $35 on Business (Publer's plans page, read 16 October 2026). Metricool is out on the same test, because X is a paid add-on, $10 a month for each connected X account on its paid plans (Metricool's plans and add-ons guide, read 16 October 2026). Agorapulse prices each user and charges for every profile past the tenth, $15 a month each on monthly billing or $10 on annual (Agorapulse pricing, read 16 October 2026); CoSchedule's Social Calendar adds $5 a month for each profile beyond three (Social Champ on CoSchedule pricing); and MeetEdgar sells accounts beyond a plan's allowance as add-ons, from $2.99 a month each on Edgar (SocialKit on MeetEdgar pricing).
Two fail the first test: Meta Business Suite publishes only to Meta's own networks, and Ayrshare is an API for developers rather than a queue you schedule from.
Five more fell on the third test. Hootsuite's Standard plan is $99 per user a month for up to 10 social accounts, and Professional, with unlimited accounts, is $199, but both prices are for annual billing and Hootsuite's plans page does not show the monthly rate, so we could not price either on the monthly billing this page uses (Hootsuite plans, read 16 October 2026). Vista Social's Professional plan, for 15 profiles, is listed at $79 a month by one source and at $99 by another, which reports a price rise in late September 2026 (Socialync on Vista Social). Zoho Social meters by brand and by seat, and its sources disagree on both the seats and the Professional price. Planable prices by workspace, but the guides we found give no profile limit per workspace and disagree on whether a free plan exists (CostBench on Planable). Pallyy prices by social set, and its sources put an extra set at $10 or $25 a month (SocialKit on Pallyy pricing).
We ordered the eight by what 30 channels for one brand cost a month on monthly billing, the point where Buffer's per-channel bill has climbed furthest, and show 10 channels beside it. PostWharf's figures come from its own pricing page. Prices for Buffer, Postiz, Later, SocialBee, Sendible, SocialPilot and Sprout Social, and for Publer, Metricool, Agorapulse and Hootsuite in the tests above, come from each vendor's own pricing pages, read on 16 October 2026. For Blotato and the other tools we ran one web search each that day, and a few details the vendor pages did not give, such as analytics history, come from third-party guides; where sources disagree, the entry says so. Check the vendor's page before you buy.

PostWharf's 30-channel figure assumes one brand. Thirty channels spread across three brands cost $29 a month on its Startup plan.
The 8 alternatives, ranked
1. PostWharf
PostWharf is a social media scheduler built around one composer, one queue and proof of what actually went out. You write one caption and one set of hashtags, override them for any network that needs something different, then publish now or at a set time. After publishing, each post is checked again and gets a delivery receipt with one row per network, and failed deliveries are retried automatically. It publishes to 10 networks today: Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, Threads, Pinterest, Bluesky and Telegram (PostWharf, read 16 October 2026).
Billing is per workspace, and a workspace is one brand with its own channels, drafts, queue and delivery history. Inside it, channels are unlimited and there is no per-channel fee, so five Instagram accounts for the same brand still count as one workspace. Starter is $15 a month ($10 a month billed yearly) for one workspace and 200 scheduled posts a month. Startup is $29 ($23) for three workspaces and 400 posts, Plus is $67 ($54) for ten workspaces and 1,000 posts, and Pro is $99 ($79) for unlimited workspaces and 2,500 posts (PostWharf pricing, read 16 October 2026). Next to Buffer Essentials, 30 channels for one brand cost $15 a month instead of $135.
Every plan also includes a REST API with one key per workspace, an MCP server that works with Claude Code and other MCP clients, a command-line tool called wharf installed from npm, and webhooks. Its integrations list names Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex, n8n, Zapier and Make, so a workflow such as auto-posting new blog items to social with n8n and Claude has a queue to send its captions to. When AI helps write the posts, nothing goes out until you approve it.
Pros: one flat price per brand at any channel count, a delivery receipt for every post, and developer access on every plan.
Cons: scheduled posts are capped by plan (200 a month on Starter), so a busy 30-channel calendar may need a larger plan; its pages list no analytics dashboards, social inbox or white-label client reports; and Reddit, Discord, Snapchat and WordPress are available on request but not connectable yet. Support grows with the plan: email on Startup, priority on Plus, dedicated on Pro.
To try it, pick a plan on PostWharf's pricing page. Starter's seven-day trial charges your card only when the trial ends.
2. Postiz
Postiz is an open-source social scheduler, so you can host it yourself and pay no licence fee; what you pay instead is the server, the upkeep and the work of getting each network's app approved. Its hosted plans are sized by channel count. Standard is $29 a month for 5 channels, Team is $39 for 10 channels with unlimited team members, Pro is $49 for 30 channels and Ultimate is $99 for 100. Paying yearly takes about 20% off, which brings those to $23, $31, $39 and $79 a month. Every hosted plan includes unlimited posts, the Postiz MCP server and API, and starts with a 7-day trial, and there is no permanent hosted free plan (Postiz pricing, read 16 October 2026).
Going from 10 to 30 channels adds $10 a month, the smallest step on this list after PostWharf's and Sprout Social's, which add nothing.
Pros: free to self-host, and hosted tiers that rise slowly with channel count.
Cons: the hosted price still steps up with every tier of channels, and self-hosting moves the cost to your own time.
3. Blotato
Blotato is a scheduler with AI content tools built in, and it sizes its plans by connected accounts. Starter is $29 a month for 20 accounts, 1,250 AI credits and 200 queued posts. Creator is $97 a month for 40 accounts, 5,000 credits and 1,000 queued posts, and Agency is $499 a month for 100 accounts. Each Facebook Page and each LinkedIn company Page counts as an account of its own. Yearly billing saves about 17%, chosen in the billing portal, and there is no free plan (Blotato's pricing rate card, effective 10 September 2026, found 16 October 2026).
That puts 10 channels on Starter at $29 a month, with room to spare, and 30 channels on Creator at $97, because Starter stops at 20.
Pros: 20 accounts on the entry plan, and AI credits included on every tier.
Cons: the step from 20 to 40 accounts more than triples the bill, the queue holds 200 posts on Starter, and third-party guides disagree on what the trial includes.
4. Later
Later sizes every plan in social sets of eight profiles. Starter is $25 a month ($18.75 billed yearly) for one set, one user and 30 scheduled posts per profile per month, with 5 AI credits and 3 months of analytics. Growth is $50 ($37.50 yearly) for two sets, or 16 profiles, with two users, 180 posts per profile a month, 50 AI credits and a year of analytics. Scale is $110 ($82.50 yearly) for six sets, or 48 profiles, with four users, unlimited posts per profile, 100 AI credits and two years of analytics (Later pricing, read 16 October 2026; the analytics history on Growth and Scale is from SocialPilot's Later pricing guide and Upload-Post's, verified 17 September 2026).
Ten channels take you past Starter's eight profiles, so the bill is Growth at $50. Thirty channels need Scale at $110, because Growth's two sets hold only 16. On Growth, an extra social set costs $15 a month and an extra user $5, which may cost less than moving up a whole plan; Starter takes no add-ons.
Pros: posting limits, seats and analytics history that all grow with the plan, and room for 48 profiles on Scale.
Cons: the step from 16 to 48 profiles is a step from $50 to $110 a month, and Starter's 30 posts per profile a month is tight if you post daily.
5. SocialBee
SocialBee sizes its plans by profiles. Bootstrap is $29 a month for 5 profiles and one user with 3 months of analytics history, Accelerate is $49 for 10 profiles and one user, and Pro is $99 for 25 profiles, 3 users per workspace and branded reports (SocialBee pricing, read 16 October 2026; Accelerate's 2 years of history is from Hackceleration's SocialBee pricing breakdown). Billed yearly, Bootstrap, Accelerate and Pro cost $290, $490 and $990 a year. Above 25 profiles you move to the agency tiers: Pro50 at $179 a month, Pro100 at $329 and Pro150 at $449. Every plan has a 14-day trial, and there is no free tier.
That makes 10 channels a clean fit at $49, and 30 channels a Pro50 bill of $179, because Pro stops at 25 profiles.
Pros: Accelerate matches 10 profiles exactly, with two years of analytics.
Cons: one user until Pro, a large price step from 25 to 50 profiles, and extra users and extra workspaces cost $10 a month each.
6. Sendible
Sendible's tiers are Core at $35 a month, Plus at $99, Premium at $199, Elite at $299 and Enterprise at $750, with 15% off on yearly billing ($30, $84, $169, $254 and $638 a month) (Sendible pricing, read 16 October 2026). Plans are sized in workspaces of six profiles each: Core has 1 workspace (6 profiles), Plus 3 (18), Premium 7 (42), Elite 15 (90) and Enterprise 50 (300), and every plan includes unlimited users. Core publishes up to 100 posts a day per workspace.
Core's six profiles fall short of 10, so 10 channels start on Plus at $99 a month (or Core plus one extra workspace at $35, $70 in all), and 30 channels need Premium at $199. Approval workflows start on Plus, and white labelling is a paid add-on on Elite and Enterprise only. The trial runs 14 days with no card needed.
Pros: unlimited users on every plan, and approvals on the plan that covers 10 channels.
Cons: a 10-channel price above every other entry's except Sprout Social's, and more profiles mean buying more workspaces.
7. SocialPilot
SocialPilot sells four self-serve tiers sized by accounts: Essentials at $30 a month, Standard at $50, Premium at $100 and Ultimate at $200, or 15% less on yearly billing ($25.50, $42.50, $85 and $170) (SocialPilot's plans page and pricing file, read 16 October 2026). The tiers hold 7, 15, 25 and 50 accounts, with 1 user on Essentials, 3 on Standard, 6 on Premium and unlimited users on Ultimate.
That puts 10 channels on Standard at $50 a month and 30 channels on Ultimate at $200. Extra accounts are $4 a month each, so Premium plus five extra accounts would be $120, if you accept paying per account above the cap. Client approval workflows start at Premium and advanced white-label sits on Ultimate. There is no free plan; the trial lasts 14 days and needs no card.
Pros: approvals and white-label on self-serve plans, without a sales call.
Cons: API access is Enterprise-only.
8. Sprout Social
Sprout Social is a full social media management suite rather than a scheduler alone: a publishing calendar and queue, a Smart Inbox for messages, keyword and location monitoring, review management and reports. It connects X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube, Threads, Bluesky and WhatsApp (Sprout Social's help article on connectable profiles, read 16 October 2026).
The bill is per seat, so each user pays the full plan price, and the plan decides how many profiles you can connect. Essentials is $99 a seat a month ($79 billed annually) and Standard is $249 ($199), and both stop at 5 profiles; the inbox, monitoring and review tools start on Standard. Professional is $399 a seat a month ($299 billed annually), the first plan with unlimited profiles, and adds bulk scheduling, an approval workflow and competitor, tag and paid-social reports. Advanced is $499 ($399) and adds the Sprout API, helpdesk and CRM integrations and chatbots. The plan cards show the annual prices, and the monthly ones for Standard and up are in the pricing FAQ. The trial runs 30 days with no card needed (Sprout Social pricing, read 16 October 2026).
With five profiles as the ceiling below Professional, 10 channels and 30 channels both land on Professional, at $399 a month for one seat. That is the same at either count, which is why Sprout Social passes the per-channel test, and the highest bill on this list at both counts, which is why it ranks last: $13.30 a channel at 30, and every extra user adds another $399.
Pros: inbox, keyword monitoring, review management and approvals sit beside the scheduler, the trial is 30 days, and iOS and Android apps come with every plan.
Cons: the most expensive entry here for a single user, a full seat price for each extra person, and the API only on Advanced; its MCP server is supported only in ChatGPT and covers TikTok post data only (Sprout Social's ChatGPT integration article, read 16 October 2026).
Should you leave Buffer at all?
For a handful of channels, Buffer is still inexpensive. Its free plan covers three channels with ten queued posts each, and Essentials at $6 a channel is $12 a month for two channels, below the monthly entry price of every paid plan above. Per-channel billing only overtakes flat pricing as you add accounts: by 10 channels Essentials is $60 a month, and by 30 it is $135.
Flat tiers are not automatically cheaper, either. At 30 channels, SocialBee ($179), Sendible ($199), SocialPilot's Ultimate ($200) and Sprout Social's Professional ($399 for one seat) cost more a month than Buffer Essentials ($135). What those plans buy is seats or team features: Buffer Essentials includes one user, while its Team plan, with unlimited users, is $12 a channel for the first ten, or $120 a month for 10 channels. NapoleonCat says Buffer last changed these prices in November 2025.
If the cost you want to cut is the time spent writing rather than the scheduler bill, start there: turn one blog post into five social posts with AI, or plan a month of social posts in one ChatGPT chat and load it into whichever queue you keep.
Which one to pick
Choose by what you are paying Buffer for today. If it is the channel count, PostWharf puts every channel of a brand on one queue with delivery receipts, from $15 a month: compare its plans on PostWharf's pricing page. If it is control over the software, self-host Postiz. If it is seats and client sign-off, price Sendible's Plus or SocialPilot's Premium against Buffer Team. If you want the inbox, approvals and reports in the same tool as the scheduler, Sprout Social's Professional plan covers unlimited profiles at $399 a seat a month.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best Buffer alternative that doesn't charge per channel?
For one brand publishing to many networks, PostWharf: it bills per workspace, so every channel of a brand sits in one queue for $15 a month ($10 billed yearly), and each post gets a delivery receipt. If you need open source, Postiz is free to self-host and $39 a month hosted for 10 channels. If you need several users and approvals, Sendible's Plus plan is $99 a month for 18 profiles and unlimited users.
How much does Buffer cost for 10 or 30 channels?
On Essentials, $60 a month for 10 channels ($50 billed yearly) and $135 a month for 30, because channels 11 to 25 cost $4 each and channels 26 to 50 cost $3. Team is $12 a channel for the first ten, so 10 channels on Team are $120 a month.
Is there a free Buffer alternative?
Postiz is open source, so you can host it yourself without a licence fee, paying only for the server and your time. Its hosted plans start with a 7-day trial and have no permanent free plan. Buffer's own free plan covers three channels with ten queued posts each.
What is the cheapest Buffer alternative for 30 channels?
Among the tools on this page, the lowest flat price for 30 channels in one brand is PostWharf's Starter plan at $15 a month. Postiz's software costs nothing if you self-host it, though you pay for the server; hosted, its 30-channel Pro plan is $49 a month.
